Where your money sits while we build
Our background is large-scale residential building. We bring the same standard of project management to every house we build or renovate.
Renovate8 is owned and run by Paul Metlege, who has been a project manager for the RTA — road widenings, noise walls, culverts — for McDonald’s, fitting out new restaurants and refurbishing existing ones, and for a major residential developer, managing the construction of 250 apartments.
Your house is smaller than 250 apartments. It is run to the same standards.
Monthly progress reports
Any project lasting more than a month involves a monthly progress report covering:
- Work done in the last month
- Red flag issues
- Critical path
- Site safety
- Variations
Cost control and accounting
It is common practice in the industry to use funds from one project as a float for another. That means if one job gets into trouble, it can slow down other work — or a builder might start looking for ways to squeeze more money out of one project to bail out another.
That is not the way we work. Every one of our projects has its own set of accounts, its own bank account and its own credit card.
